Hello, my name is Caroline, I have been volunteering and working within the world of bereavement and pre-bereavement since 1988 when I experienced my first death.  Since then I have been bereaved many times in many ways and as a ‘Thinking Griever’ have tried to make sense of my own experiences through research, education and training, whilst supporting others too.

I am a bereavement volunteer with a national charity, I facilitate bereavement support groups, I run grief workshops, I am a Trustee for another national charity, deliver training on grief & bereavement, I was commissioned to write a book for JKP on grief and I am researching for a PhD in bereavement.

Please feel free to comment on my posts or if you would  like any further information or signposting please contact me directly & I’ll be happy to help.

  1. Caroline, what a wonderful idea you’ve put together.
I lost my wife to Cervical cancer in August 2013. We had been together for 18 years and not only was she my best friend, Thail was my sole mate. There wasn’t a day, even during her illness, where we didn’t make each other laugh. When Thail lost her battle, I felt like I had lost my world. I decided to see someone about my grief. I joined some bereavement classes and met Caroline. I was very fortunate to not only have Caroline as my councillor but have the other people in my class, that were a very talkative group, this helped immensely. I think the class worked very well, and the way Caroline helped us all through the hardest and most emotional time of our lives is truly amazing. Her knowledge and understanding of everything to do with grief is second to none. Don’t get me wrong, I miss my wife more than anything but Caroline has helped me to cope better, I have adjusted my life to deal with my grief and make it slightly easier.
If you are having to deal with a loss then I can’t recommend getting in touch with Caroline enough. She will definitely be a massive plus in a really negative time of your lives.

  2. Dear Caroline
thank you for taking an interest in our project – I will look forward to reading your posts – as you will have found out my partner Jane and I are parents to Joshua who died early in 2011 – since then we have become involved in a number of different projects and charities including the Compassionate Friends and Dying Matters . For the moment THE GOOD GRIEF PROJECT is aimed at parents and siblings of a child who has died – and of course it is still in its infant stages – our plan is for it to be a repository of stories of survival from around the world – surviving the loss of a child that is .. but it has been suggested that our remit should include all grievers – what do you think? I have lost both parents and two very best friends but the death of my son was of a totally different order so on the one hand we want to serve a community that has quite specific needs but on the other we do want to be inclusive – we also have another site http://www.beyondgoodbye.co.uk from where all this internet sharing grew out of … best wishes Jimmy
